On the evening of 20th May, the Final Round of the 2nd Sustainability Project Competition was successfully held at Hainan Medical University, Liyan Hall. The event brought together students, teachers, guests, and judges to celebrate innovation, teamwork, and sustainable development through English project-based presentations. Teachers and students from the Kunming Medical University exchange camp also attended the event.
5月20日晚，海南医科大学立言厅成功举办第二届可持续发展项目竞赛总决赛。本次活动汇聚了学生、教师、嘉宾和评委，通过英语项目展示共同庆祝创新、团队合作与可持续发展。昆明医科大学交流营的师生也出席了此次活动。
The competition officially began with welcome speeches by Ma Jing, Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office of Hainan Medical University, and Dr. Clare Watson, Deputy Dean of UWE College. In their speeches, they highlighted the importance of sustainability while encouraging students to continue developing project-based learning and real-world problem-solving skills.
比赛在海南医科大学教务处副处长马静和西英格兰学院副院长Clare Watson博士的致辞中正式拉开帷幕。他们在讲话中强调了可持续发展的重要性，并鼓励学生继续发展项目式学习和解决实际问题的能力。
During the final round, each team delivered an eight-minute presentation showcasing months of research, preparation, and teamwork. The projects explored a wide range of sustainability-related topics, reflecting students’ creativity, global awareness, and strong sense of social responsibility.
在决赛环节，每支团队进行了八分钟的项目展示，呈现了数月来的研究、准备和团队合作成果。项目涵盖了广泛的可持续发展相关主题，体现了学生们的创造力、全球意识和社会责任感。
Following the presentations from the first six finalist teams, a 10-minute break was held. During this time, audience members and public judges were invited to visit the project poster displays and vote for their favourite posters using stickers. The “Most Popular Poster Award” was later determined based on the number of votes received.
前六支入围团队展示结束后，进行了十分钟的休息。期间，观众和大众评委被邀请参观项目海报展示，并使用贴纸为自己喜爱的海报投票。"最受欢迎海报奖"随后根据得票数揭晓。
After all finalist teams completed their presentations, three rounds of lucky draws were held for the audience, bringing a lively atmosphere to the venue. Lei Haixin, Dean of the UWE College, then delivered the closing remarks for the evening, praising the students’ creativity, teamwork, and dedication throughout the competition.
所有入围团队完成展示后，现场进行了三轮幸运抽奖，气氛热烈。西英格兰学院院长雷海新致闭幕词，赞扬了学生们在整个比赛中的创造力、团队合作和奉献精神。
The event then moved into the Award Ceremony, one of the most anticipated parts of the evening. The “Most Popular Poster Award” was announced first, followed by the presentation of Certificates of Participation to the eight finalist teams in recognition of their hard work and dedication. The third prize, second prize, and first prize winners were then announced in sequence, drawing warm applause and cheers from the audience.
随后进入当晚最令人期待的颁奖环节。首先揭晓"最受欢迎海报奖"，随后为八支入围团队颁发参赛证书，以表彰他们的辛勤付出和 dedication。三等奖、二等奖和一等奖依次揭晓，现场掌声和欢呼声不断。
Award-winning teams and their mentors were invited onto the stage to receive their awards and take commemorative photos with the presenters. The event concluded successfully with a group photo session involving guests, judges, teachers, participating teams, and staff members.
获奖团队及其导师被邀请上台领奖，并与颁奖嘉宾合影留念。活动在嘉宾、评委、教师、参赛团队和工作人员的大合影中圆满落幕。
The competition not only provided students with an opportunity to improve their English communication and presentation skills, but also encouraged them to think critically about sustainability and real-world problem solving. Through this event, the college once again demonstrated its commitment to international education, interdisciplinary learning, and cultivating globally minded talents for a more sustainable future.
此次竞赛不仅为学生们提供了提升英语沟通和展示能力的机会，也鼓励他们批判性思考可持续发展和现实世界问题解决。通过此次活动，学院再次展示了其对国际教育、跨学科学习以及培养具有全球视野人才、共创可持续未来的承诺。
